But it doesn't really make it any easier. My last baby turned one today. I have such mixed emotions, it's kind of hard to explain.

Phoebe was a surprise baby. I wasn't thrilled when I found out I was pregnant with her, but now that we've had her for a year I can't imagine what life would be like without her. I always say that she was planned by Someone higher than me, who knows what He is doing.

The last year has gone by so incredibly quickly, and I feel like I've missed it somehow. I think the more kids you have, the faster time goes for each one. With the first baby you can just cuddle, nap with them, take them everywhere with you. Two changes everything; you're chasing the first one and trying to get enough sleep to function, and trying to decide if it's worth it to go to the store with a toddler and a newborn even if you are out of milk. By three, you're now accustomed to a couple years of inadequate sleep, and you are brave enough to leave the house with all three, because if you don't you'll likely lose your mind. And then came four.

Four changed everything, again. No sleep, afraid to leave the house because I didn't have enough hands for all of them, but going crazy stuck in a little house with four active little people all day, every day. Of course, that was also the year I attempted homeschooling. Huge fail. I have nothing but pure admiration for anyone who can homeschool a first grader with three other kids running around the house. I feel certain I would not have survived those first few months had it not been for Beth, the best friend anyone could ever hope for. She'd call me on the phone and know right away without me even saying anything that I was having a day I just couldn't handle. The next thing you know she'd show up on my doorstep with some kind of homemade, baked deliciousness and take my older kids for the day so I could rest and take care of Phoebe.

I knew Phoebe would be our last baby, and I really struggled with that. I knew that I didn't want to have any more kids, I knew that it wouldn't even be practical to have any more, but still I struggled with the transition of having babies to raising babies/kids. It was hard to cross the line to a new season of life. There are still times I get a little emotional about it, knowing that there won't be any more tiny baby clothes or newborn snuggles.

And so today Phoebe turns one. She's full of personality, attitude, smiles, and love. She's the perfect combination of her three older siblings. I see each one in her at different times, though she does look an awful lot like her brother.

I'm attaching a video I made of Phoebe's first year. It's a little long, but I wanted to be able to share with family who's far away and can't watch her grow.
Kind of strange to say it, because while I don't feel "old" (most days), certain things around me make me feel old. Like how I showed up at school to pick the kids up a couple days ago, and Amelia's teacher was wearing a shirt that I have, only in a different color. My first thought was..."Oh no! I dress like an old lady!" (She really isn't old, just older than me, has kids in high school....and I feel like I should still be dressing like I'm younger!) Or how my brother just turned 19. THAT seems completely unreal to me. Wasn't he just a little kid the other day? And one of the flower girls from my wedding, who I babysat when she was born, is now babysitting my kids. Bizarre.

Anyway, I've decided that instead of making the traditional "New Year's Resolution", this year I'm making some Birthday Resolutions. So year 33 for me will be:

1. I want to get healthy! This will require going to the gym to exercise on a regular basis, eating healthy, and getting out on my bike as much as possible.

2. Along with getting healthy, I want to get "skinny"! Now I'm not talking about being a size 2 and wearing a bikini. Those days have definitely passed for me. :-) I just want to feel good in my clothes and to be able to shop in whatever section of a store I choose, and in whatever store I choose. I'm tired of having to go to the plus size section. Since I joined the KC Slimdown Challenge in July, I've lost about 17 pounds. Still going strong, and my goal for this year is to lose all the weight I've gained over the last 7 years of having babies. I have a long way to go, but I'm choosing to focus not only on how far I have left, but how far I've come. 17 pounds is kind of a big deal. I went to the grocery store the other day and picked up three 5 pound bags of flour. It was heavy. I've lost more than that, and that makes me happy.

3. I want to do a full triathlon all by myself! If you read my previous post, you'll know that I just did a team triathlon on 9/11. We had a swimmer, biker, and runner. I was the biker. I came in dead last. But I finished, and so I feel like I can be proud of that considering I haven't ridden a bike in about 20 years! For the 2nd Annual Jeremy Katzenberger Memorial Triathlon, my goal is to complete the entire triathlon on my own. A 400 yard swim, 11 mile bike ride, and 3.1 mile run. Training starts now.

4. I want my house to be organized! I say this all the time and then I go and buy millions of organization "things" and then I just end up with more "things" in my house that don't get used. My goal is to get rid of every single thing that does not have a specific purpose, so that the clutter is GONE. I have a hard time letting go of things that I MIGHT use some day, or things that were given to me by someone but I no longer use. Gotta get over that!

5. I want my business to grow! I've been working hard on growing my business, Boomershenanigans. This year I'd like to be able to say that not only was I working just as a hobby, but that I was able to contribute to my family's income and help lift a little of my husband's burden of providing for a family of 6.

Those are my goals for year 33. Update to come in one year. ;-)Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-25172651794047365482011-09-11T22:37:00.000-05:002011-09-11T22:37:34.329-05:009/11 and a Triathlon

Yes, I remember exactly where I was on this day 10 years ago....I was at the office where I worked as a legal secretary, listening to the radio at my desk. I was working, and happy as could be planning my wedding which was just 11 days away. Making plans for my birthday which was the next day. Not really a care in the world.

I heard the radio say that a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers. I ran in to tell one of the other ladies, who thought it must be some kind of joke. We turned on the TV in the conference room just in time to see the second plane hit. We continued watching, not really able to get any work done.

Today, 10 years later, I participated in my first triathlon. The First Annual Jeremy Katzenberger Memorial Triathlon...held at Weatherby Lake in honor of Jeremy, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on June 14 of this year, fighting for our freedom. Like so many others, Jeremy made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of this country. It was quite an honor to participate.

Afterward, there was a picnic at the park with a memorial service honoring the victims of 9/11/01, and a tree dedication honoring Jeremy. I'm glad I was able to be there. May we never forget.

(I apologize for the weird spacing and picture issues on here...I can't figure out what is wrong with them and why they won't move!)
Phoebe joined us last September 29, the last of our shenanigans. She has brought even more joy, and noise to our home. She's as sweet as can be. Her first birthday is rapidly approaching, and I just can't believe she's already going to be one. It seems like just yesterday....

Amelia started Kindergarten this year, and Camden is in second grade. We did the homeschooling thing last year, but it proved to be a little bit of a challenge for me. Amelia LOVES being in Kindergarten! She is excited every morning, and is sad when the weekend is here and she can't go to school. Camden is doing well in second grade, and likes it so far!

The kids and I (and a teenager brought along to help with kids!) took a vacation to California for three weeks. I'll post some pictures below. It was great weather, and we loved spending time with our family out there. Monica (the teenager) and I took Camden and Amelia to Disneyland. Of course we had some beach days...with four kids that was a challenge! Phoebe ate LOTS of sand.
Did you know that our motto is "Hand-made, on-the-go style for mommies and their little mischief makers"?
My goal is to be able to grow my business enough that I can help bring in some income to ease the burden on our family. Being a family of 6 with one income is tough! I hope that through Boomershenanigans, I can help make mommies and babies happy, and in the process bring a little income to our household.

Here are the latest creations to be added to the list!

This is Phoebe, the littlest of my shenanigans, sporting her new pacifier clip. Clips are $5, and can be made in any color or pattern you like. New ribbon is on order right now, and I'll have some new choices up very soon!

This is the crinkly stuffed owl. It has open ribbons of different sizes, lengths, and colors that baby can pull on. Phoebe loves the crinkly noise it makes when she squeezes it. Below are some (in my opinion) darling pictures of Phoebe with her new crinkly owl. Comes in all different colors/patterns, and also available in initials! $8 for an owl or an initial.
Another new item is the stuffed owl (can you tell I love owls?!)...these come in two sizes, small $13 (12"x9.5") or large $15 (13.5"x9.5"). No two are the same (unless of course you order them to be the same), you can specify whether you'd like a boy owl or a girl owl, and I'll come up with something just for you!
This is Ava, she was the very first owl made by Boomershenanigans, and she was also our very first giveaway! For every 100 "likes" the Boomershenanigans Facebook page gets, we'll do a giveaway. my little shenanigans were sad when I mailed Ava off, they all wanted to keep her! They are asking me to make them their own. I see a Christmas present possibility here....

Of course, there are still the Ta-ta Tarps (nursing covers for discreet moms), onesies that come in anything you can dream up (initials, cupcakes, dinosaurs, anything!!), tote bags with the same endless possibilities as onesies (some new Halloween totes will be underway soon, perfect for trick-or-treating!), and I'm always working on new ideas. You can contact me at boomershenanigans@gmail.com, or on my Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/boomershenanigans! So here is a pic of the reusable snack bags I've been making. They seem to be quite popular lately, and I've sold quite a few. One lady even ordered 16 of them and used them as party favors for her daughter's birthday! They come in three sizes.

You can order them by emailing me at boomershenanigans@gmail.com, or visit my facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/boomershenanigans.

Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-69017594109269278152010-02-20T21:32:00.002-06:002010-02-20T21:41:02.719-06:00Amelia is 4!It is so hard to believe that she's 4 already. For some reason, going from 3 to 4 feels to me like going from baby to big kid.

We had her family birthday party last Saturday, and then her "friend" party today. Abby spent the night with her last night, and then this morning Amelia, Abby, Anna, and Brennah all went to Build a Bear, where they picked out animals and outfits. Then we came home for lunch, cupcakes, ice cream, and presents. The girls had tons of fun.

Attached is a slideshow of the last year, Amelia from age 3 to age 4. She's gotten so big!

Happy 4th birthday, Princess Amelia!

Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-79799595237466416552010-01-31T21:06:00.004-06:002010-01-31T21:41:55.613-06:00LessK-LOVE did a segment a couple weeks ago about choosing one word to focus on for this year, 2010. The idea was to pick a word that you wanted to be like, make yourself into, etc., and then go through the Bible and find verses that relate to that word that you could focus on and learn in order to reach your goal. So I chose the word "less". I thought it was the perfect word. My goal was to focus more on God than on myself, so "less" of me, more of Him. To have "less" stuff in my house cluttering it up. To have "less" weight on my body.

It turns out that my "less", in at least a couple areas, will be turning into "more". This week we found out we're expecting one more baby. So there goes the less weight part! This baby was not planned. I should clarify that he/she wasn't planned by me, but WAS planned by Someone higher than me. Psalm 139:13-16 says "For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them."

I'm amazed to think that the Lord knew about this baby before it was ever a thought in my mind. Before I knew it was there, He knew, and He planned for it. He has planned all of his/her days already! I can say that when I first found out, I wasn't too awfully excited. It was unexpected, and not something I had planned for. But Psalm 127:3-5 says "Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them..."

So there you go. Children are a gift the Lord gives us. I'm thankful for the three gifts I've already got, and for the one that's on it's way here in October.

Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-6217293417458537932010-01-07T19:41:00.007-06:002010-01-07T20:23:14.738-06:00A New YearI would say that my New Year's resolution is to be a better blogger, but let's face the facts here...my real resolution is to lose some weight. Like 50 pounds worth. Actually about 46.5 since I've already lost 3.5 this week.

Ok, so it appears that my last post was on October 13. Only 3 months ago.

What's been going on the last three months....
October:
The kids dressed for Halloween as The Lion, Dorothy, and Toto. I made the girls' costumes and they turned out pretty cute. The lion was too much for me to take on, so we bought that one.

November:
Umm, all I remember is Thanksgiving.

December:
Amelia had her first dance recital. Pictures are included in the slide show below.
We spent a lot of time driving around looking at Christmas lights. We had a great Christmas, even though we missed having Kristen here. When we pulled into the driveway at mom and dad's on Christmas afternoon, Camden wanted to know if Auntie was there. I said no, and he said, "But she's always here on Christmas!" It was sad. We do get to talk to her on Skype though, and Matilda points at the computer a lot and says, "Auntie!" (which actually comes out more like, "Teetee!")
We had a very snowy Christmas, and we weren't sure if we'd be able to even make it out of our neighborhood that day. We did, and the kids were very relieved. It hasn't stopped snowing since. At least it feels that way. We have a record amount of snow and school was supposed to start back Tuesday, but has been canceled all week because it is so snowy and cold. Oh, and also because our mayor didn't fund enough for snow removal, so all the side streets are completely snow and ice covered. Nice. We can barely get down our street, and there were kids actually ice skating on our street the other day.

The kids and I combined our Christmas money and bought a Wii and they each got to pick out some games. It has been nice to have it this week with no school and not being able to get out much.

So...that should pretty much bring you up to date. I'm putting in another slide show of the last 3 months so you can see what we've been up to...somehow they got out of order, but anyway...

"Picnik Show"

Create a free slideshow with Picnik!

Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-60359996687687002252009-10-13T18:51:00.003-05:002009-10-13T19:28:24.988-05:00I knowI'm a sucky blogger. I can't seem to find the time to update. I'm going to aim for once a week from now on. Like maybe on Sundays. I have to find one day a week where I make myself set aside some time and do it!

I'm not even going to try and update since the last post, but I'll add a slide show of pictures from the pumpkin patch yesterday. We had tons of fun. It's our tradition to go to Dairy Queen after the patch. (Hence the ice cream pictures) If you click on "picnik show" you'll get a larger version of it.

"Picnik Show"

Create a free slideshow with Picnik!

Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-77340690686246557462009-09-21T09:23:00.005-05:002009-09-21T10:04:56.807-05:00The last weekYeah I know, everyone keeps telling me. "It's been a week since you updated, you know!" I know! Ok, so update for the week:

Saturday was my birthday. It was a little crazy with Tommy working, but after the kids went to bed Kelly came over and hung out with me. She brought me a homemade cake and some wine. Beth also came over with a mini cake complete with a candle for me! So the three of us hung out for a while and had fun just talking and laughing.

Sunday night we went over to my mom and dad's for my birthday dinner. Pesto shrimp fettucini, salad, and bread. It was delicious!

Monday I went to Mardel, which is a huge, awesome Christian book store in Overland Park. Mom came with me to help with the kids. I'm the nursery supervisor at church, and we're starting a new program for the older 1 and 2 year olds, so I had to go in search of some curriculum.

Monday was also the day when Amelia started asking about getting married. First she wanted to marry Camden, but he told her he was already marrying Sarah from school. Then she asked me if she could marry Daddy, and I told her Daddy was already married to me. Then she wanted to know if she could marry me, and I told her I was already married to Daddy. She got a very concerned face, and in a very sad voice she said, "Well who will marry me then? I wish there was a little boy that would marry me now so I didn't have to wait till I'm a grown up."

Tuesday we were working on the kids' memory verses for Awana. Amelia's story had something in it about David, and asked what David the shepherd might see as he looked around. I think they were going for nature things, but Amelia said, "Golijah!" I think she mixed up a couple stories!

By Thursday I had made Amelia mad enough by not letting her have candy for breakfast that she yelled at me, "I'm never ever talking to you ever again!" And then when Camden got home from school and I wouldn't let him have candy, he started getting angry. I told him to go to his room, and on the way up the stairs he called me a "big fat potato head." It's hard to not laugh for some of this!

Amelia went to dance lessons and did a great job, so we ordered her tap shoes and she's ready to learn!

Paula thankfully kept Camden and Amelia over night on Friday since I still wasn't feeling great (strep throat), so I had a nice quiet night with just Matilda. The antibiotics finally kicked in and Saturday I was much better.

I went to pick the kids up in the afternoon, and when we got home Camden decided he couldn't wait to get inside to use the bathroom so he dropped his pants and underwear and peed all over the front porch. That was interesting, since the guy next door was supposed to be having an open house on Sunday so he was out front getting the yard done, probably hoping that we wouldn't be home from 1 - 3 on Sunday in case my kids decided to do anything crazy during his open house!

Sunday after church Tommy took the kids to his friend's house to watch the Chiefs game, and I took Jack (our black lab) to the dog park in Shawnee Mission with Kelly. It was quite a sight getting four black labs into the back of her Rodeo. We were laughing pretty hard by the time everyone was in! Jack did really well, it was his first time there and it is off leash so I was a little worried he would take off from me, but he stayed with me and did a great job! He was exhausted by the time we got home! Then we took the kids to mom and dad's so Tommy and I could go out to dinner for our anniversary (which is Tuesday, but he has to work). We went to Red Lobster and had endless shrimp! It was nice to have a meal with no kiddos!

So now it's Monday, Camden is at school, Amelia is watching Barbie in Rapunzel, Matilda is playing with Mathew (the little boy I watch once in a while) and I'm updating. Oh, there were no pictures this time because I forgot to put the memory card in my camera! It's back in now, so over the next few days I'll get pictures and post them.

Wonder what kind of shenanigans the kids will get into this week...

Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-39508860532336527362009-09-11T10:10:00.002-05:002009-09-11T10:13:47.323-05:00A couple things I forgot...Matilda now tells me when she poops. Exciting, I know. She looks at me and says, "Puh puh!"

She also says, "Gooky" for when she wants a drink.

She's starting to use so many words lately!

She says Jack, for the dog, nana for banana, and of course dada...she is a total daddy's girl!
She waves and says bye bye, baby, and mmmmm! when she's hungry.

Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-34101502131076760882009-09-11T09:30:00.016-05:002009-09-11T10:07:16.231-05:00Oops, I did it again!I know. I said I was going to try and do a better job keeping up with it. Anyway...

What we've been up to:
Last Friday night we had a slumber party over at Abby's house. All of us. The kids had tons of fun. We had pizza, the kids did some art projects, somehow we fit 5 kids in a bathtub, and then they went to sleep!

Beth and I baked brownies, watched Jane Austen movies, and drank a glass of wine.

On Sunday we went to Paula's after church. We get progress reports every Friday, so when he gets home today we'll see how he did this week. We turned in his first Scholastic Book Club order today. I remember those from when I was in school, I loved ordering new books! I let each of the kids pick out one book this time.

Tommy's schedule is picking up at work. In fact he has to work tomorrow on my birthday! So my friend Kelly is going to come over after the kids go to bed and watch a movie with me. I think I'm going to make some guacamole, yum!

I've been picking up some business making Ta-ta Tarps, too! I just put some pictures of new fabrics on my business page, and will be going to another fabric store maybe later today to take pictures of more fabrics!

Next week everything gets busy again for the year. Bible study on Tuesday and Wednesday, Awana for the kids on Wednesday night, back to the gym (I need to do this bad!), Amelia's dance lessons on Thursdays, and I'm starting a book club with a friend too.

Right now I'm getting ready to go bake my Amish Friendship Bread. Someone at church gave me a starter for it, and this is my first time to make it but I've heard that it's delicious! Today is day 10, baking day. Amelia is very excited to help me bake it, she loves to help in the kitchen! I'll take a picture and let you know how it turns out.

Ok, time to get Matilda down for her nap and bake some bread!Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-31354475298353787582009-09-02T08:12:00.003-05:002009-09-02T08:19:50.903-05:00Some recent shenanigansI just remembered that I was going to put on here some of the things the kids have said recently.

Camden has nursery rhyme day at school on Friday and has to dress up as his favorite nursery rhyme character. He told me he wanted to dress up as a T-Rex, but I told him there weren't any nursery rhymes with a T-Rex in them. His idea?

"How about...Hickory dickory dock, the T-Rex broke the clock. There, now it's a nursery rhyme so can you please buy me a T-Rex costume?"

Amelia told me the other day: "Mommy, I had a vewy mystewious dweam last night!"

Yesterday on the way to school Camden sighed and said, "I just love kindergarten!"

I know there were others but of course as I sit down to type them I can't remember. I need to start keeping a notebook with me so I can write things down right away!

Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-49966672941153597912009-08-31T20:22:00.009-05:002009-08-31T21:02:08.201-05:00What's been going on?I know. Like in Finding Nemo, when Nemo is excited for school and his dad doesn't want him to go. I tried talking Camden out of school for the last two days, but he was very serious about going. :-)

We drove up to the school today because it was raining, normally we'll walk. We went in and took a few pictures, Camden in front of his classroom and sitting at his assigned place at his table.

When I went to pick him up he had a big smile and told me he loved Kindergarten and had a fun time. I was pretty relieved. I knew he would like it, but there was still a little part of me that wondered how he would do. He kept his clothespin on the happy face with a star today. Of course, this was in the midst of her having a fever and being extremely cranky. She hasn't done it since! I knew it would be any day, because she has been standing with no hands on anything for quite a while now. Yesterday she still wasn't feeling well so she didn't want to have anything to do with practicing walking. :-) We'll see if she wants to try again today.

In the meantime, Kristen is here visiting for her last visit before she goes to Germany, so we'll probably be spending most of the next couple weeks with her.Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-39413084988101330422009-08-07T20:34:00.002-05:002009-08-07T21:24:35.181-05:00To schoolI can't really say "back to school" because this is our first time.
Camden starts kindergarten in just 10 days! I have mixed emotions about it right now. Some days, August 17 can't come fast enough and on other days I get a little teary thinking about Camden being gone all day every day. 9:00-4:00 seems like a long day for a 5 year old to me!

Anyway, so we finally got all of our shopping done today, thanks to the tax free holiday for back to school supplies. He got new school shoes, his backpack, and all the school supplies on his list. All that's left to do is go Thursday night for back to school night to meet his teacher and see his classroom.

It's so crazy how fast these 5 years went by.Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-64852157248353573472009-08-06T07:59:00.002-05:002009-08-06T08:04:34.803-05:00A Long Day!Yesterday Matilda was cranky the entire day and pretty much sat on my lap all day long. I had no idea what was wrong with her and figured she must be getting sick. After dinner I noticed that her right hand was completely clean, and realized she hadn't been using it at all throughout the day.

"Miss Bef" (that's what Camden and Amelia call Beth!) came over and took the older kiddos for a sleepover with Abby so I could take Matilda to the urgent care at Children's Mercy. Boy am I glad too, because we were there for three hours!!

It turned out that Matilda had Nursemaid's Elbow. The doctor was able to pop it right back into place, and now she is a MUCH happier girl. Although I am surprised she didn't sleep in later today since we didn't get home till after 11:00 last night!

But I am glad she's back to her usual happy self and playing and climbing like normal. Apparently this is something we have to keep an eye out for, I guess once it happens once it is more likely to happen again.Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-79107240786994603322009-07-31T18:46:00.005-05:002009-07-31T20:29:44.939-05:00A new friendThe man who owns the house next door doesn't live there, but is fixing it up to sell. It was the very first time Amelia came in the door and said, "Can my friend come inside to play?" Camden keeps calling her "girl friend". "Hey girl friend let's go play out back!"

So they played out front for a while drawing with chalk:

They've been playing all afternoon, going back and forth between the two houses. Of course Camden does not want to play princesses and mommies with them so he's trying to torture them and make them play dinosaurs with him...

In the meantime, Matilda is busy playing with Amelia's stroller.

I forgot something!
Today I couldn't find my phone. I asked the kids if they had done something with it. Camden said, "It's your business to keep track of your own stuff, mom!"

Wonder where he heard that?Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-65088356671348783402009-07-29T18:16:00.012-05:002009-07-29T18:43:21.240-05:00Dentist and PizzaCamden and Amelia had their dentist appointments today. Camden has been once before, but it was Amelia's first time. She cried a little at home and didn't want to go. But she did a great job there, and on the way home she said, "I shouldnt have cried, but I didn't know." I said, "You didn't know what?" She said, "That going to the dentist would be so fun!" :-) I think the new princess toothbrush and two prizes from the prize drawer helped.

We let Camden go first so that she could see it wouldn't hurt. When we got home it was time for lunch and Matilda tried her hand at eating some ravioli...

Saturday night we got to go out to eat with some friends. We went to Moonlight Sushi and tried some tasty new things. It was Tommy's first sushi experience. I think he enjoyed it. I KNOW I did! I LOVE sushi!

Sunday was a red letter day! We finally got the outside of our roof fixed. Now we just need to wait for a good rain and make sure that we got all the spots that were leaking. We'll wait to fix the inside until we're sure about that. Aunt Carey came and played while the guys were working on the roof. Amelia enjoyed some cuddle time with her.

We also got some new furniture. Well, new to us anyway. I love CraigsList. I've bought and sold lots of things on there. Yesterday we got a new blue and white striped loveseat with a twin size hide-a-bed and a nice big blue chair and ottoman. After a good steam cleaning and restuffing the pillows, we really like it! Now we just need to find a new couch that "goes" with the loveseat and chair and we'll be set. I'm waiting patiently for the perfect deal.

Today we went to the gym, hung out at home, and then Camden and Amelia did some video performances for me to post. Camden is doing his "Duck Dodgers" dance. Duck Dodgers is some cartoon he's been watching lately. Not really sure that the dance actually has anything to do with it, but that's what he calls it.

Amelia's performance is her "ballet". Some of it she just made up and some of it (the "butterfly flaps" and "opening the storybook" are things she actually learned in ballet.

Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09569697264408753822noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3011771241467256193.post-10441140876702426792009-07-23T20:28:00.005-05:002009-07-23T20:37:59.956-05:00ThursdaySo today we didn't do a whole lot, but I have some pictures anyway. First is Camden and Matilda playing on the floor. They were having so much fun!

Amelia wanted her picture taken, too.

A little while later Matilda pulled most of the books (the ones she could reach anyway) off the bookshelf. She was surrounded by books and sat there for the longest time looking at pictures! My little librarian. Actually, if she was a librarian she would have known how to put the books back. I guess that makes ME the librarian.

Yesterday's shenanigans by Amelia I think I put on Facebook but didn't get them on here. Her quotes of the day:

While watching this cartoon channel called Boomerang: "It's on Booberang!"
and then, "I'm the queen. And I'm in charge.
